On the weekends, the natural park of Albufera in the South of Valencia gets busy and congested. However, the natural environment, the beautiful beaches, and the extensive offer of bars and restaurants make the place attractive to locals and tourists. During our investigation, we found that the infrastructure in the Albufera is mainly associated with cars and the public transportation share in this area is lower than expected. Hence, we came up with a solution that does not need to change current infrastructures, and it’s more about changing public behavior and preferences. Our assumption in this proposal is that if we work on the socio-cultural dimension by gamifying processes and designing a solution-based app, It can reflect a powerful form of community-supportive activism in the area. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the collaboration with stakeholders through incremental action plans of improvements. Accordingly, the information and facilities that are most needed are regarding people’s usage of current public transportation, their age group, and all related data. We will also need cooperation from the city administration and existing transportation companies like EMT to assist us with this new solution.
A proposal for EIT challenge (RAPTOR).
